What is the role of Transport Designer
In a company, the Transportation Designer is the one who re-invents the future by proposing new ideas. In the design process, from the brief of the marketing department, he is in charge of proposing relevant and appealing solutions. By creating new experiences for the user, the Transportation Designer will carry important expertise for the brand development: he has the power to create future best seller vehicles.
Course Structure
Foundation Course: Industrial Design
The aim of the three year long Industrial Design course is to master the industrial design process. Students are asked, in the very first year, to choose a specialization from; Product Design, transportation design and Digital Design. In these initial years, they are taught about the design process through training in the areas of graphic expression, creativity techniques, manufacturing techniques as well as consumer practices.
It is mandatory for students to undertake projects during the course. These projects help them understand the design process in detail. Some of these projects are collective, but mostly they are individual, to teach them how to work independently.
Advanced Course: Design Management
The two year advanced course provides specialized training dedicated to the mobility of goods and people. The aim of this course is to conceptualize and develop the machinery, the silhouette, the general structure of the interior/exterior of vehicles that help or would help transport goods or people.

Evaluation
- Every 6 weeks a student review is organized to evaluate student's work, take feedback from them, give a warning if necessary and use reporting to instil professionalism
- Term ends with a presentation of their long projects' to a Jury of faculties and professionals
- Portfolio presentation to the Evaluation Committee at the end of the 5th year. The committee comprises of experts from the Design Industry.
Certification
The training is based on a standard approved by the CNCP of France (National Commission for Professional Certification). The CNCP works directly under the supervision of the Office of the Prime Minister of France.
On successful completion of the Industrial Design course from DSK ISD, the student is awarded with a Certificate: Product Design Manager, Transportation Design Manager or digital design manager (according to the chosen specialization).

Certification

Internship
- It is essential to have prior professional experience to be able to find a well deserved employment at the end of the course.
- At DSK ISD, students in the 4th year (1st semester) and students in the 5th year (2nd semester) have to undergo two 6 months internships, respectively. Hence, our students already gain more than one year of professional experience by the time they graduate!
- During each of these two internships, students get valuable time to understand and work on real projects with the support of professional designers.
- All our internships, abroad and in India, are paid internships by the respective companies.
- We already have several Indian students interning in reputed design studios in Europe.
- For our 5th year students, the internship is an opportunity to find their first job.
- In order to be a good design manager, it is important to understand the basics and the values of the work. Hence, the 1st and 2nd year students have to undertake an internship in a factory, to identify with the basic work process initially. This experience helps the students understand how a company works; they learn different manufacturing processes and how goods are produced.

Master class
The best design studios are in Europe and the US where the 'know-how' is in these studios. At DSK ISD, every year, we organize several Masterclasses and we invite many excellent designers from these epicentres. Masterclasses are a one week intense session under the guidance of these professionals.
These are focused on one "expert subject", for example: How to design sport shoes? How to design a car interior? For the students, it is an amazing opportunity to meet and exchange knowledge and experience with really accomplished Industrial Designers.
DSK ISD saw a lot of reputed companies visiting the campus. They have shared invaluable knowledge about their field with our students.
We had Shoe Design Masterclasses conducted by renowned Footwear Designers like Florence Rohart, ADIDAS (Germany), Thomas Murphy, PUMA (Germany), Kaja Bartel, CAMPER (Spain). Recently, reputed companies like Bentley Motors (UK), Renault Design (France), Oxylane (France), Studio Massaud (France), Artengo (France), Seren Partners Ltd. (UK), Studio Massaud (France) and James Toleman Industrial Design (UK) conducting Masterclasses for our students on Product, Transportation and Digital Design.
Prestigious companies like Cartier, Node, Oxylane, Faurecia, Intuit Labs, Visteon, Estech, Titan, Global Design are amongst others who have conducted Masterclasses at DSK ISD.
