What are the important days in ISD?
The following events dates will be given to students in advance.
Student Reviews
At DSK ISD student reviews happen every six weeks, where every trainer of ISD reviews student's marks and their overall performance. This review takes place for all students of Year 1,2,3,4 and 5. This kind of frequent reviews gives trainers an opportunity to monitor students on an individual basis. It also gives a chance to see the direction they are following in terms of their studies and advise them if they are on the right or wrong path.
Long Project Juries
At DSK ISD the long projects, which is a semester project takes place twice a year. The last phase of the project is reviewed by juries consisting of renowned Indian and International companies. The long projects take place for students of Year 2 and Year 5.
Industry experts from all over the world evaluate student's work and give them valuable feedback and input. This helps students understand where they stand in terms of their work and how much they need to improve.
Portfolio Presentation
The portfolio presentation at DSK ISD happens once a semester, where students present their work completed during the semester. The student's portfolios are judged by an in house jury comprising of all DSK ISD trainers. This takes place for students of Advanced course (Year 3, 4 and 5).
Masterclasses
We have a unique concept of master class where industry professionals from internationally reputed companies and studios conduct workshops with students on specific subjects like shoe design or exterior automobile design. For students, it is an amazing opportunity to meet and exchange knowledge and experience with accomplished Industrial Designers.
Academic Support
At DSK ISD all our staff is always willing to help! We operate on an open door system, where students can get help from concerned faculty by just dropping into the office when they are free and available. Such meetings are informal and serve as an opportunity for students to relay personal queries. Students are given autonomy sessions within the 9-5 timetable so as to catch up with the course work.
How do I cope with the workload?
There are some students who are away from home for the very first time in their lives as a result they can find their situation to be overwhelming. Recognizing this problem DSK ISD has nominated Nayeisha D'souza who is in charge of all courses related to communication and personal development and to assist with academic counselling for all students.
All our ISD staff is open to provide students with support in any area possible, right from personalized time-management to group based work.
What are the other expenses I can expect throughout the year?
During the academic year students are recommended certain books that are worthwhile purchasing besides this certain stationary like special drawing books, markers, scales, colors are also needed for courses and can be purchased from the school design store.
Who are the student mentors?
Student mentors are in the first instance their departmental heads, beyond this we are able to pair junior students with their senior counterparts and where students are almost at graduation we will try our best to pair them with an external professional who will work with the students providing guidance and direction.
At DSK ISD, scholarships are given to 5 students each year.
- 1 student each from Foundation level from both courses: Product and Transportation
- 1 student each from Advanced level, from all three courses - Product, Transportation and Digital Design.
The criteria for the selection of students are as follows:
- Academic performance of the student judged by the respective Head of Studies.
- Annual Income of parents should be less than or equivalent to 6 lakhs.
In case your annual income is less than or equivalent to 6 lakhs you are requested to submit the income proof to the concerned person.
